Behavioral therapy from a trained psychologist.
Goto a therapist and figure out why you feel the need to having everything just so. Identifying the source of the issue can sometimes help you see it's unusefulness.

I know that I desire to have a realllllly organized/clean house. I know that this comes from having lived in a family where nothing was ever clean, and all the papers were stacked in piles throughout the house. I have achieved a happy medium as a result of identifying the source of the issue, and now don't pull out the vacuum the moment a cat hair falls on the dark colored couch.
let me know the answer too. My daughter has it, and it can drive me craaaazy sometimes. She doesn't take anything though. I am trying to teach her that things are not always going to be the way she feels they should be and just to take a breath and relax. Her daddy has it too.
OCD is a complicated problem, I think medication is in your best interests. If you have tons of money or free therapy perhaps you can go to a psychiatrist to figure out whats causing it. Fear is usually a big factor behind it. I hear Zoloft has good results. If the medication is bothering you go back and get your medication adjusted by a reputable psychiatrist. Sometimes that fixes the problem. good Luck!
you don't get rid of ocd but behavioral therapy can help you manage it and not let it take over your life
The best way to try to reduce the symptoms of OCD without the use of medications would be to find a therapist who has experience in using behavioral and cognitive techniques in therapy. Specifically, one of the best behavioral treatments for OCD is exposure and response prevention. The basic idea is that individuals with OCD engage in compulsions like cleaning, checking, or counting to reduce anxiety caused by obsessional fears and thoughts. In this type of behavioral therapy, the individual with OCD is prevented from engaging in compulsive rituals for a period of time while being exposed to whatever it is that they fear. They are taught other techniques for coping with the anxiety instead of using compulsive behaviors. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, this could be done on a weekly outpatient basis with a therapist where the techniques are taught in the session and the individual practices at home. For more severe symptoms, a more intensive day treatment program may be an alternative.
