Why do I yearn for the rain like some yearn for the sunshine?

Question:
I feel like I am the only one who gets excited when it starts to rain. Sure I hate driving in it but all that means is that I am extra careful on the road. Aside from the hazards on the road, I love the the way it shines off the road, the fresh smell it gives, the sounds of cars wooshing by , the grey-white color the sky has, the soft patting of the rain hitting the puddles it's created. Some people get moody when the sun hasn't been out for a day or two. I get upset when the sun is out for a couple days straight especially NOW where it hasn't rained since Thursday. I must be going insane.

Answers:
You love rain - so do I! That's not insane at all!
Only if you suffer from loving rain or hate the sun so much that you don't want to go outside you should consider looking for (professional) help. But then you should!
At the moment you do not sound depressed to me - you LOVE rain, you are able to create imaginative pictures of pouring rain: the shining, the smell, the sound of cars - you've got an eye/ear for details - that's creative and intelligent. Depression is something that makes you lose creativity and almost every feeling you've got, except for sadness and despair and in the end you 'll even lose these.
Keep on loving the rain! There are people who feel the other way round no one would call them insane..... why should you be?

Other Answers:
You are depressed.
Ask your Dr. for an anti-depressant
and/or an anti-anxiety medication.
When I was young I loved to walk when it was in light rain. Now I can't walk so I can't. You're not alone.

Maybe you're just sick of this @*#&$%& drouth!!
Perhaps you are enjoying the rain as young children do! Sometimes , it is a pleasant break especially after hot summer months. In my country, we usually like the rain when it pours on May. It is very refreshing!
I also like to watch it fills puddles, and splatters on windows.
As I yearn for sunshine I do yearn for the rain. And we are not insane! We just find such sweet music in the pitter patter of the pouring rain.
some people really do like the rain, although I do not think it is normal to get upset when it does not rain, you should just enjoy it when it does rain
