Curing agoraphobia is possible.
Before curing it, you might want to look into the reasons which caused it. Ask yourself the following questions:
1. what exactly am i fearing? (ex : crowds, meeting people in a crowd, getting crushed in the crowd not being able to escape, people looking at you, you feeling exposed in public?) which exact aspect of large public spaces are you most scared of?? it might be difficult to answer this question or you might feel anxious, but it would help you get over your phobia gradually.
2. what incident has been there in my past that has built this fear in me?
3. If I have learnt to fear public and crowded open spaces, isn't it possible for me to learn that its OK to be in such places?
And the answer for that question is YES, you can learn to feel FINE and OK in the crowd.
When you have an insight into what the problem is, into what happened in your past that caused this problem, and when you have told yourself that I can treat this problem, you will be fine.
Take help from a counsellor or therapist who might prescribe you light drugs incase you suffer from panic attacks and would also help you relearn positive responses towards crowds/plublic places.
As someone said earlier, take baby steps.
right down in order the situations that scare you.
one by one, slowly try to overcome these situations.
and im sure, very soon, agoraphobia will not exist in your life!

how serious is the condition?
maybe just take baby steps...open the door...look out side...then go to your porch...then down the steps.... just take baby steps :)
also you can go to a doctor and they maybe able to prescribe something (i would try the baby steps first though)
i think agrophobia is the result of untreated anxiety.

Seek the advice of psychologist to help you get over this, but I would think that taking it one step and one day at a time would help - leave a window open, then a door, one foot out the door one day - increasing the time daily, working up to actually standing outside - again increasing the time daily, one step at time until before you know it you're down the block. I wish you the best.
you spelled it right just to let you know....taking things step by step...like taking baby steps...start by walking towards the door one day...the next day try walking by the door and thinking about going outside...the next day try standing with the door open...and so on until you finally make it outside. then stay out there for a few minutes..then stay out there longer for the next day. taking small steps may take a long time, but will definetly help.
