Is there such a thing as adult ADD, and is it treatable?

Question:

Answers:
Yes, their is definitely such a thing..I should know! I was diagnosed 3 years ago and I've been an adult for a long time now. Now I see how it has affected my life all along--just didn't know what it was---just that I knew things just weren't right. Adult ADD did not begin in adulthood. It is usually diagnosed when the person has finally hit the wall and all of the compensation they have done throughout the years doesn't actually serve them well. In fact, one of the criteria for diagnosing Adult ADD is that the person has displayed symptoms since childhood. It is very treatable. Sometimes it takes a while to regulate medication as well as finding the correct one that works for you. But in my practice, I have seen many almost what I would consider miracles once the person is diagnosed and treated.

Other Answers:
Absolutely there is, and yes it is treatable. Very common! Check with your doctor.

Yes adults can have ADD and it is treated usually by Ritalin but there are others like Concerta too. Yes, I think so, but it's usually called anxiety with or without depression!! A lot of the meds treat both.

NO, there is no such thing as ADD. Period. It's a myth conjured up to give doctors more money for diagnosing and medicating an imaginary problem.

ADD/ADHD is a condition you would have had as a child. You have to have had symptoms prior to around age 5. It is treatable. It is best to see a counslor. A lot of times anxiety mimics symptoms of ADHD

Yes there is and it is treatable. There is a medication for that and I understand it has great results. See a health professional. My brother had it and he is doing great now. And no you don't have to have it as a child to get it as an adult. There are questions as to what causes it, some say people are allergic to additives in the food or chemicals and pollutants we are exposed to in our environment. I would knock off the junk food, stop drinking high sugar products with lots of caffiene and eat organic or natural foods this might help. There is also a neat computer program that helps this problem, wish I could remember the name of it, it uses biofeedback.Good luck!
