i try not to think too hard about it because when i do i get even more nervous. when you are on deck, try practicing your swing to the timing of the pictches being thrown for the batter that is at the plate. that way your timing should be better when it is your turn and you know what to expect. take your time when you are at bat. don't be afraid to step out of the batter's box between pitches and take a few swings. especially if the pitcher is taking a long time between pitches. its the worst when you are standing there ready and waiting for the pitch for a long time because you start to psyc yourself out. relax and have fun!! good luck!

Think of nothing, except hitting the ball. Have you ever seen "The Last Samurai?" There was the concept of "no mind," which is basically the strategy of not letting anything else into your mind but the task at hand. Don't worry or think of anything else. This will take practice and concentrating on your swing (e.g. taking practice swings). Practice hitting balls when your friends are screaming at you, and then you'll get used to ignoring distractions. Confidence only comes when you start to consistently hit the ball.
Worrying and being nervous about doing well will only detract from your performance (that's psychologically proved).

well i always think to my self that the faster i hit it the less i have to be up to bat~!~ So, next time your up to bat think about hitting the ball and not about getting hit or striking out. If you strike out don't tear yourself up about it. Everyone who plays softball has struck out before. Your not the only one~!~
