How would one involuntarily admit a severely underweight anorexic?

Question:
Have any of you ever known someone with severe anorexia that you were concerned about? Is it possible to have them involuntarily admitted if they are so underweight that they are about five-foot-five and only weigh seventy-six pounds? If so, how would one go about doing this?

This person is eighteen years old, but still attends high school and lives with their parents. Oh, they live in the United States.

Answers:
She's legal so I don't know that she can be involuntarily admitted. All I can think to say is talk to her parents, make them aware of the problem and ask what you can do to help. Also talk to your friend and express your concerns to her. Good luck.
Have her parents drive her to the ER or a treatment facility. If she's a danger to herself, they might be able to keep her for a while regardless.
