i,m so forgetful and have low memory retention, could they be the result of frequent dreams and sleeplessness?

Hmm, forgetfulness and low memory retention doesn't have to be due to restlessness in your sleep or sleeplessness. Memory issues could be a sign of other medical conditions and you should see a neurologist to discuss and get a complete work up. If it is sleeplessness you should have a sleep study done and see exactly what is causing the problem. Sometimes sleeplessness is caused by underlying hormonal issues or depression or a chemical imbalance or not getting enough oxygen when you sleep.. Not have restful sleep is dangerous and can lead to other medical problems. Get help before things become unmanageable. People often wait to long to seek medical help and could have prevented certain medical conditions if they had sought help earlier rather than later. never hurts just to have things checked on.

Sleeplessness, if severe, would surely affect your cognitive abilities, of which memory. But what is causing both dreams and insomnia may also be directly causing your memory loss. Is it stress? Depression? Anti-Depressants? Other medication? Look into it, talk to a doctor.
