Has anyone had this moment?


Question:
Where, like, you see someone say something, and then someone responds--then you go into another room, and the same thing happens again, but with completely different people? Kinda like, a de ja vouz?

Yes. It's called deja-vu. What it happends? I think we dream about what we gonna do, but we forget that dream. Usually this feelling takes 10-15 seconds (for me). It's very strange.

Deja-vu (French, literally "already seen") is fairly common, although as you can see from the above answers there is no firm explanation for it. Some people believe that it occurs because we dream the future- this explanation likely arises because the "memory" of the event seems almost dream-like. Most scientists believe it has something to do with the perception processes between sides of the brain. In normal perception, our brains process information from both sides of the head (right and left eyes, right and left ears, etc) simultaneously, combining them into one perception of our surroundings. In deja-vu (the theory goes), that combination process gets off ever so slightly, and part of the scene reaches the "processing" part of the brain just before the other part. Therefore, when our brain "assembles" the late half with the early half to produce our conscious perception, we have "already" seen it-- deja-vu.
