bipolar meds?
Question:
Answers:
First of all, I have bipolar disorder, too. You say you've tried different meds. But there are other meds that you haven't tried yet. I would suggest that you see a psychiatrist. Please give another med(s) a chance to work for you. And if you feel better after being on them, don't think you can just stop taking them- it shows that they are doing their job. I am on Lamictal and Seroquel. And I can see a big difference in my moods (for the better). My dear hubby has seen the change in me, too. I'm hopeful that there is a med(s) out there that will work for you. Don't give up! Here is what has helped me cope with this disorder: seeing a psychiatrist and taking the prescribed meds, talking with a therapist, joining a bipolar support group, and listening to 20 minutes of guided relaxation daily (tape made by my therapist), and trying to keep a positive outlook on life. Our thoughts have a great impact on how we feel. Being bipolar is not going to go away, so we have to take it one day at a time. I recently found a wonderful message board for bipolar support- http://www.everydayhealth.com
I hope you have found this helpful. Good Luck! Oh, and about the bipolar support groups...family and friends of bipolars are welcome to attend these meetings. The staff at your psychiatrist's office should be able to help you find a bp support group in your area.
There are new drugs and new drug combinations. See your Doctor.
