Other Answers:
Everyone feels like this some of the time. In that way, it is normal.

If you ALWAYS feel this way, it's not exactly normal. We all get stuck on one thing for periods of time, be it an idea, an event, a song. But to the point where you feel like harming yourself? Try reading a book, if you have the concentration to do so. Listen to music, go to work or get a job where you are moving all day. Get enough sleep and exercise. If none of this works, you may want to talk to someone.
You could have obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), it's very common. Some anti-depressant type drugs are used to treat it.

Try to talk to a doctor or counselor about it soon. It's possible that counseling might help, but medication might be the best thing.
Have you tried meditation or prayer? A good counselor or your pastor? There are ways to help you. Call the health department and ask them to talk to a counselor. They can help you to cope.

God bless.
Someone wrote a book entitled CRT: Control Your Thoughts. Unfortunately, I don't remember the guy's name as it was a local guy in Palm Springs about twenty years ago. However, his methods helped me a lot to silence unwanted thoughts and can recommend it, or something similar. Good luck!
