Answers:
OCD is a more common mental disease than once thought; it affects 2% of the population.
If you have OCD, talk to a counsellor and/ or close friends or relatives. The longer you prolong talking to some-one the harder it takes to finally stop the Obssesive Compulsive behaviour.
However, because OCD is a result of clinical anxiety, this is hard to do. Some people will be lucky enough for people around them to recognise signals of OCD; but sometimes, it takes a leap of faith to get it out in the open.
If you are interisted in treatment, many doctors will recommend a 6 month period of non-medication treatments that involve talking and trials over your obsessions and compulsions. The medication is only used if the patient isn't showing any signs of improvement.
The medication is used to increase the patient's serotonin levels and is also done over a period of 6 months. But remember, the medication is NOT a cure! Many patients will begin to revert to their old habits after they stop taking the medication.
If you are interisted in some top-of-the-line information on OCD and treatments for it. Investigate the "Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Patient Treatment Manual"
