how can nail-biting be cured?
Question:
Answers:
Several treatment measures may help you stop biting your nails. Some focus on behavior changes and some focus on physical barriers to nail-biting.
* Keep your nails trimmed and filed. Taking care of your nails can help reduce your nail-biting habit and encourage you to keep your nails attractive.
* Have a manicure regularly or use nail polish. Men can use a clear polish. Wearing artificial nails may stop you from biting your nails and protect them as they grow out.
* Try stress-management techniques if you bite your nails because you are anxious or stressed.
* Paint a bitter-tasting polish, such as CONTROL-IT or Thum, on your nails. You could also use tabasco sauce, or chili sauce on them. The awful taste will remind you to stop every time you start to bite your nails.
* Try substituting another activity, such as drawing or writing or squeezing a stress ball or silly putty, when you find yourself biting your nails. If you keep a record of nail-biting, you will become more aware of the times when you bite your nails and be able to stop the habit.
* Wear gloves, adhesive bandages, or colored stickers whenever possible to remind you not to bite your nails.
* Snap a rubber band on the inside of your wrist when you start to bite your nails so you have a negative physical response to nail-biting.

There's some stuff you can find with the nailpolish in stores. I forget what it's called, but you paint it on your nails and it makes them taste bad.
Yeah, my mom and I helped my brother stop. We put that liquid bandage on his finger tips every 5 hours. He stopped after awhile. It does take time. So you should go out and buy liquid bandage. "I don't know but I want to know, what I did that worked for a while was to put fake nails or manicure on that makes you stop for like a month after you take them of.Of course that is if you don't bite the fake nails.I didn't because it tasted gross."
I used to bite my nails a lot. I wanted to stop so I decided to put nail polish on because I hated the thought of eating nail polish and it actually worked. Now I don't even bite my nails. Since I got so used to not biting them when i had nail polish on, I haven't bit my nail even if i didn't have nail polish on. Maybe it'll work for you?
first check if it is related to stress or some other emotional thing(ex. an overweight person may be overeating becuase a family member has passed) just as an example, you could be stressed about passing upcoming exams, getting engaged, etc. for starters, if you are up to it, try wear something that will cover your hands, obviously like gloves or simply putting on nail polish or try biting, let's say, your knuckles instead of your nails. nail-biting is just a bad habit, not some life threatening disease, so yes it can be cured, you just have to figure out what makes you do it. some people tap their feet a lot, grind their teeth, etc, it's just a bad habit you have aquired.
It is actually very very simple.
Just start applying large amounts of hand cream, along with the bitter-tasting fake nail polish, and chew a lot of chewing gums. There's a type of nail polish that tastes horrible and another thing is to dip the tips of your nails in grounded hot peppers every few hours so that everytime you bite you burn yourself. My friend did that and it worked. He hasn't done it in years.
