A girl on my floor had a fit, what was wrong with her?

Question:
I live in an all girls dormatory at my college and a girl on my floor was taken to the emergency room because she went into a fit. for twenty minutes she screamed like i had never heard before, she screamed like some one who was not in control of herself, she sounded like she was posessed. along wiht the screaming she was also writhing, like she was in an unimaginable amount of pain. some people said she was having a seizure but i know that you cant scream when you are siezing. she had apparently threw up in her room sometime and she wasnt responding too any of the medics or her roommate, she seemed incoherant to anything other than screaming. i have no idea what could have caused this, i am really shook up about it so i would like to know if anyone has an idea as to what it may have been.

Answers:
how frightening for you. no wonder you are shook up ... how hard to witness something like that.

it sounds like she had a bit of a mental breakdown. doesn't sound like she had a seizure ... but perhaps she had some reaction to some drugs ... ? or just had some kind of mental break.

i'm sure as frightened as you were .. imagine how she felt .. in the grips of something so tragic. i seriously hope she is okay .. and that she is somewhere she feels safe and is able to respond to treatment.

tonight she will probably be given a sedative so she can rest ...and tomorrow i'm sure they will get a psych evaluation done to determine exactly what is going on with her.

maybe it would be helpful for you to talk to someone .. is the RA around? maybe you guys can have some kind of group get together to talk about it ... just as long as it doesn't turn toward vicious with regard to her. talking and getting your feelings out is great ...

i will be thinking of you all tonight. i hope she's okay and i hope that you are too.
