Has anyone had success with Lexapro for depresssion/anx.

Question:
I have been depressed for about 2 months(due to chronic pain, 3 surgeries and at least 6 hospital stays since December 2005) I have no energy and cannot seem to get back into working out/lifting weights. I am 41 and have been dedicated to 4-5 workouts a week since I was 17. So- I am depressed because I feel like I am losing what always made me strong/confident and anxiety kicks in because I feel somewhat worthless and weak! I need help and all the advice I can get! Lexapro-anyone? I was told by a nurse that it's fantastic. A penny for your thoughts-please!

Answers:
I was on it for a bit, and while I'm sure many people will tell you it has worked awesome for them, I had a horrible side effect with it. It made me sweat like crazy!! It was so embarrassing, I would be at work just making copies on the copy machine and sweat would be running down my back. Unfortunately, I had to try something else. I currently take Wellbutrin which does help, but I still think I need some kind of SSRI. I am just afraid to go back on them because of the sexual side effects with SSRI's..they suck (the sexual side effects that is).

Good luck, everyone reacts different to drugs. Hope Lexapro will work for you! :-)

Other Answers:
i didn't

Lexapro has lots of side effects especially sexual ones. I was on it for a year and was not impressed, I have been on Prozac for atleast 6 months which has been my miracle drug. Sorry to say, these medications are somewhat hit and miss. What works for one may not work for another. You need a doctor to prescribe it and monitor you- dont mess with these thing alone.

Be happy. that never helped for me, they switched me so i gave up on them all.
