can i slow my recovery from brain injury if i return to soon to work?

Question:
my friend had a motorcycle accident 4 months ago, he's doing good but i don't think he's ready for work. he still gets very tired and has touble with endurence. i don't want him to hamper his recovery. he wants to do to much and i think he will be overwhelmed, money is not an issue. i want him to pace himself.

Answers:
I suppose it depends on what kind of work he does.

Being idle for too long can also slow a person's recovery.

If the work is low-stress, and the employer is understanding and willing to let him work at a slower pace and give him time off when he needs it, then it could be good for him.

If it's the kind of high-stress, late hours type of job that sucks you in and takes over your life, then your caution is appropriate.

You might seek a compromise that allows him to do something productive without working full-time, for example do some temp jobs, run an EBay business, or take some vocational classes that will improve his standing when he does go back to work,

You should really consult a doctor about this. But if I were to say so, I'd say tell the dude to stop worrying and get some rest. Maybe do a little light exercise around the house (walking). If you put too much stress on the body, it WILL take longer to heal. Tell him to conserve his energy so his immune system can use it.
You should make him go to a specialist so that he can hear it from an expert that he is harming himself. I went right back to work with just a bad contusion and it had a long-term damage.
