My 7 year old son has selective mutism at home he speaks and is actually quite loud but in school he doesnt say a word.I am told that this is an anxiety disorder(social phobia).A child with sm needs plenty of support. Here is a website that can help you understand this condition.
I'm not trying to be funny or belittle your good qwuestion, but on weekend mornings, I do not speak. I don't really do this conciously, it is just that way until about the late afternoon. I think my own thoughts and do my own thing until it wears off.
