do you think anti depressants will still be perscribed in the distant future?
Question:
Answers:
I think that as long as there is a demand for anti-depressants and aslong as they are proving succesful on people's well-being they will continue to be perscribed to those in need of them.
I do think however that there may be stricter criteria for being able to perscribe these drugs and it is possible that more alternative, natural methods for the diagnosed patient may be tried first.

The way things are going I think that it will be necessary to add them to the mains water supply - then we'll all smile while we vote for Ewan Blair or Bush number 3.
Yeah I think that they definitely will, but I think that they will be more advanced and be able to tackle the main problems instead of the way they do it at the moment in a kind of trial by error way in that you sometimes have to try a number of different anti depressants before you find the most suitable one for yourself.
Do you think they are going to dispose of the goose that lays golden eggs, or the donkey that poos proverbial gold?
I hope not. I feel mood altering medication only masks deeper, existential issues which can only be resolved through acknowledging and working through them. Anxiety is a part of all our existences and needs to be accepted as such if we are to avoid hiding from reality. Both drugs and defence mechanisms provide an easy way out. To cope with the burdens life has to offer us in an authentic way can be difficult, and we can never know what is around the next corner, so we owe it to ourselves to be psychologically stronge and healthy in order to survive. Drugs can only make us weak. Mind you, as a realist, i'm sure the drug companies will win the day and anti-depressants will be mandatory by next year for all of us.
Yes, for sure. More people are taking anti-depressants than ever and although doctors aren't supposed to just dish them out anymore, they sure do from my experience. Depression is the new common cold.
i hope not bcz all they are is a placebo effect but with potentially nasty side effects. hence it says it takes 4-6weeks for them to work thats bcz it usually takes 4-6 weeks for someones life problems to get sorted out..
if not then they up the dosage blah blah.
happiness comes from the environment which in turns effects many chemicals in our brains and our souls which are individual
the only good thing about antids is that some people like to believe they are working so therefore it helps them..
when in actual fact it just themselves and the placebo effect which gets them thru..
no actual "chemical imbalance" has been proven what with contradicting studies and not to mention that apparently youve got depression if youve been sad for more than 2 weeks.. who hasnt been sad for more than 2weeks??
everyone has and did they need drugs or else they wouldnt come out of that state??
NO and if they didnt get thru it, its probably bcz their life stinks.
what did people do before antids.?? depression was not seen as an illness or a chronic life long illness as it can be viewed today! people just got on and saw it as a transient and NORMAL part of life. how is depression a disease? If you really have a MEDICAL rather than there are blood tests etc to prove it AND the condition really is something that will not go away by itself and affects the PHYSICAL body.
yes, sometimes they are the rock to keep you safe and instore a balance of chemicals needed to function
