Our brain.?
Question:
I was thinking today that if our brain worked like a computer, as is once knowledge it learned, it will take up a little tiny bit of space.. But you know all of the "space" that's being taken up by learning songs, and lyrics we have either learned or subconsciously learned. So what if a person was brought up with no sense of music, and did not learn any lyrics to anything. Would that be less space in the brain, left for more stuff to be learned..?
I have no idea if any of that makes sense, you know how it would if you personally wrote it hehe. but if you have any input to any part of that, could you please leave me a message. Thanks
I also don't really know if this is the right category either.. hehe
Answers:
The human brain has an endless space for memory and learning. Don;t worry about running out. Although computers have been compared to the brain in complesity, we are at a greater advantage than computers.
Think about it this way. A Flys brain, is more complex than a computer. Our brain is more complex than a flys brain.
Other Answers:
there have been studies that show that the average person only uses 4% of their brain, so not learning the musical stuff would not free up any apprecciable amount of extra space.
The computer is often used as an analogy to the brain, but the brain is infinitely more complex, and it is still not fully understood. However, this much is known: The more you learn about many different things the better your brain gets at thinking. Your brain cells develop new connections (dendrites) and all sorts of new paths to thinking are constructed. So, to answer your question as I think I understand it--No, not learning something leaves does not leave more "space" for something else to be learned. In fact, it is quite the opposite. The more you learn, the more you can and do learn other new things. The human brain can has more memory capacity than any computer. Computers have some characteristics similar to our brain but they are a creation of man, not the other way around. In the case of a Savant or an Autistic Savant people can remember every detail they are exposed to without fault. For instance a Savant would remember how many buttons are on your shirt when he bumpt into you on a crowded subway 10 years ago, but still be able to remember more. No one has ever "filled" their brain; even people with high IQ's can learn more throughout life.
