Addiction? or Excuse?

Question:
Is "addiction" to sex, computers, shopping, gambling, food, and the never ending list..NOT physically addictive as in the case of drugs or alcohol,
REALLY Addictions? Or just excuses for bad behavior??

Answers:
real addiction or not, it should never be an excuse. Some people have trouble stopping something and they need help (eg: food, porn, sex, video games, youqa.com, etc). Sometimes those people who are struggling to quit use the excuse that it is an addiction (meaning- it is beyond my control, I can't control myself). Well, if that is true- then get help. Classifying something as an addiction doesn't excuse the behavior. We shouldn't let addicts off the hook. If you feel trapped, you still have the ability to choose, you just need to choose to get help. If you can’t stop doing something, don’t call it an addiction and then give up, call it an addiction and get help.

Other Answers:
"Addiction is a chronic disorder proposed to be precipitated by a combination of genetic, biological/pharmacological and social factors. Addiction is characterized by the repeated use of substances or behaviors despite clear evidence of morbidity secondary to such use." (Wikipedia)

I think that addiction to anything is a need to replace something that's missing in a person's life. You do something because it makes you feel good, and if you can't get that good feeling elsewhere, you'll come back to what it is that gave you comfort.
