Description of Anxiety

Anxiety, nervousness, fear - everyone experiences these feelings at one time or another. They are normal emotions that can be appropriate and even beneficial under certain circumstances. However, more than 20 million Americans suffer from anxiety disorders - a collection of psychological problems characterized by unnatural and unhealthy anxiety or irrational fears. The emotions and fears surrounding these disorders can dominate an individual's life, interfering with the ability to work, socialize or maintain relationships with people.

Fortunately, anxiety disorders are highly treatable. Experts estimate that up to 90 percent of people who suffer from anxiety disorders can be helped through medication, behavior modification, or psychotherapy.
I also take Xanax, not as many milligrams as you do. I really do not have problems functioning or doing what I need to from day to day. I simply get enraged at stupid things! The pills help but I do not take them everyday and do not want to. I think that it is all in my head and that I can control it if I really try without medication or therapy. It is very hard! I have a boyfriend of 7 years and a stepchild that is 8 so they and my loved ones help me be a positive person. Or should I say make ME WANT to be a positive person for them. I love them more and want to have the priveledge of loving them forever....so I HAVE to do everything I can in order to make sure that I am a good mother, lover, and friend.....not necessarily for me, but for the people that I love. Yes, it is hard, and yes, I do get upset and depressed sometimes and can at times be hateful..That is when I step away and take a break for me. I try to just say, I cannot talk to you right now, and wait until I am calmed down.
You gotta get self control, you cant rely on medication to do everything for you. You are better than that. Think of the good things in your life and think of the people that need you to be a positive person...if you do not have that, then do it for yourself, get up and go to work and school because it is improving YOUR life. Socialize with others that have the same problem, (there are soooo many of us) It will all work out for you as long as you know you are in control, not a drug.
