Your boyfriend needs to talk to someone about what has happened to him. It's very important for him to get it out. Encourage him to talk to anyone that will listen. He is his own person and he does not have to repeat what his father has done to him. Holding it in will not help. I wish you both the best. Get him talking.
The way to help him deal with what happened, is to try and understand how and why his father did what he did. That will redirect the blame from your boyfriend to the father.
I ran away from home twice as a teenager and was always an 'angry' type of person. As I grew, my anger turned to understanding and I never blamed my father. I always felt love for him. I did not feel the need to scream, shout, cry over what was done as I looked back. I just loved my father to death, unconditional love was all I ever had for him. Maybe that is why I could deal with it on my own.
The only thing you can do is try to be supportive. He needs to see a therapist and learn how to deal with his feelings and emotions. There is also a strong possibility this will lead to substance abuse and him also becoming abusive physically or mentally to others if left untreated. You have to watch for signs of this because you have to protect yourself as well.
