Taking pills for depression, yes or no?

Question:
Hey. I recently went on pills for my depression/aniexty, and im feeling bad for it, because i used to rant and rave about pill poppers and how people should not depend on pills to live. Although, i have lived with depression since i was 15/16, now that i finally started taking pills in the last few days, i do feel better...i just dont want to have to depend on them for the rest of my life. If i just have a chemical imbalance and pills will help me than im all for it.
How do you all feel about pills and depression? and WHY on earth is it so common now aday's, back in the old days what did they do for their depression?...so many questions, not enough answer's, lol.

Answers:
Hi skorpio! Yes you are right! What did people do then? They lived with it, and no pills. Although I think life in the olden days was not as stressful. Now adays a mother has to go to work to afford to have a home, back in the olden days it just took a mans wage to pay the bills. Life has situational stressers, that might cause you to be depressed and of course you have the chemical inbalances, which needs to be treated by meds. Now adays there is so much crime, evil and wars. These things usually devistate people. There is so much sexual, physical and mental abuse inacted on children, that doesn't help. Usually children don't get the help they need until later on in life, when they have a major break down. If you need to take a med for a problem, then do so if it helps you. Take Care! Hugs! von
take them if u want and if it helps
