is there a place for shy people?
Question:

You need more self-confidence. Somehow, you have been trained to doubt yourself, or to be too deferential to authority of others. If you contact me, I will be glad to help you.

I have the same problem. What I do is just go to a quiet place with friendly people. Everyone will talk to you (sometimes) and you will get over it. I normally go to the library or something.
There is nothing "wrong" with being shy. It's just a personality type. http://shyunited.proboards15.com/ I advise forcing yourself into public interaction, I have SAD so I kind of understand where your coming from. I freak out when there are a lot of people I don't know around me, it sucks. But sometimes I force myself to interact with random people so I become more comfortable around others and it seems to be working it's just gonna take a really long time.
You might find that some sort of counselling will help to improve your confidence.
Good luck with it. I used to be really shy but then i forced my self to present in front of the class and it got better. First i made a couple of good friends and then i started being friends with their friends and it made me more confidant. Also show people that you are really good at something!
:) It will get better.
