Genetics. Plain and simple. Well to say not to understand. Being bipolar is a mental state where it is easy to have violent mood swings and loose control suddenly. If one of your parents has it then you could have it too.

Here is all you need to know about Bipolar disorder. Hope it helps.
A lot of people think it is purely genetics. So in that case, if no one in their family is bipolar, they are safe. If that is the case, why am I bipolar? No one in my family, immediate or extended, has bipolar Disorder.
I think it caused by a chemical imbalance but the specific of which, I do not know.
I'm told it's a chemical imbalance. Mental illness can run in family's but it is not the cause of it. I am bipolor and a couple younger family members have had some issues with depression.
It's a chemical imbalance, can be hereditary, and or someone can fake a mental illness to get themselves out of legal trouble.
Genetics is usually partially to blame for bipolar disorder. A traumatic event can trigger it or environmental situations can also have an impact of development of the disorder. Genetically, the parents dont necessarily have to suffer from bipolar disorder; parents can suffer from anxiety, depression, or any other mental disorder and that puts children at higher risk. Trauma in someone's life can often trigger depression which can turn into bipolar disorder, such as a loved one's death. Environment can also cause the onset of bipolar disorder such as parents, pressures at work or school, peers, or major stresses in one's life. My bipolar disorder was a result of my mom having anxiety and depression and also environment.
There is a lot of good info on this subject right here.

Bipolar can occur when there is an imbalance in the system. The brain recieves the wrong message. We can fix that with medication, but it is very difficult to deal with. a Dual personality is one that is very fine line between Pyschosis and Schizpohrenia though,. both are manifested in same way they are totally two different illnesses.
(Example) At night his wife would go out and then change clothes and put on a wig and become Sandy the Hooker. In the day she was as normal as can be as a house wife not having any recollection of what she did the night before.
imbalance of chemicals in the brain.
I am bipolar to a degree. I know. It is just my personality I am born with. I refuse to give up the highs, so I'm not much use to you in the way of giving you advice to take drugs to control it. If it was much worse I'd have to. But I'm just border line so control the lows with caffiene and sleep. Its much like a roller coaster.

I really recommend you seeing a doctor if your inflicted with it. As far as what triggers it, I believe diet has a lot to do with it.
But it can hit, especially after lack of sleep.
Chemical imbalance in the brain
Chemcal imbalance. Genetics play a large part in people having it, although it can be brought on by situational events.
It is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Just like depression or other psych issues.
Bipolar disorder is almost like having a dual personality. Sometimes the chemicals overwork, and the person becomes hyper, unfocused, insomniac, then there is a crash of chemicals which takes to the other spectrum which is depression. Sometimes it can be severe, depending on the level of bipolar-ism.
The depression is what causes a lot of Bipolar to use drugs and alcohol.
Most that I know, refuse to take their meds, always wanting to be in that high, or hyper stage.

A chemical imbalance of neurochemicals in the brain. It's also compounded by psychological factors and patient history.
Bipolar is hereditary. Go to Doctor, they can give you medication for depression.
it is genetics and although it may seem to miss a generation, it shows up strong in the next.from experience, it seems to go in stages; very high spirits followed by very low ones.sometimes once you honestly know the feelings and are willing to address them you can catch yourself and along with the possible medications be them holistic or prescribed, you can stop a manic episode.best of well health to you
Please don't refer to it as "bi-polar Depression" if you keep track of your symptoms you probably have as many manic phases as depressive phases, and the manic phases are more fun.
ANYWAY. I tried to discuss the subject with my mother who exhibits all the signs of bi-polar and she swears that just because I caught something that made me "crazy" it doesn't mean she is!! It's hereditary.
chemical imbalances in the brain with heredity looked at by frequency of relatives with signs or no outward show of the illness. Environment and life experience as to how one looks at the world can produce this type of disorder. Sometimes a person is not just WIRED right to bring about symptoms and behaviors.good luck!!
A CHEMICAL INBALACE IN YOUR BRAIN. IT CAN BE CONTROLED WITH THE RIGHT MEDICATION.
chemical inbalances that is the only reason. don't believe anything else.

From what I have read (being bipolar myself) it is genetic but may not show itself unless it is "shocked" into action. So a traumatic experience or a severe depression, sometimes stress can make it come out of hiding.
