What happens to a person if bipolar disorder is left untreated?

Question:
can a person still live a normal life? can someone actually handle being manic? I wonder.

Answers:
All of these types of maladies have existed for thousands of years. Typically with the help of family and friends, these folks live long and profitable lives.

What did we do before psychologists or diagnosis?? We got by and worked around and thru our problems, - just like at any other time.

Other Answers:
Without treatment tey won't become normal and they'll probably commit suicide
nothing, they'll be fine
Without any kind of treatment (drugs or family therapy) the person may not be able to take it anymore and go downhill even more. Doesn't have to go on drugs but those are the best for regulating the swings at least and then the person can work on what the real problem is and try to ease it. There is no cure for bipolar tho.
No, you will probably end up in a psychiatric hospital until you're stabilized on medication.
depends on what you think is normal but its gonna suck you should skateboard to cope because when you skate for a long time your mind gets cleard and all your feel is the pain in your legs so youll feel better
They need help. There is help. If a person is bipolar they will not be able to control their bipolar thoughts and actions which can be dangerous to themselves and/or others. There is no shame in getting help with this.
No, it gets out of control.

It's a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long story but it depends. For most of us,it's impossible to handle with no medicine I should say but NOT all the bipolars show the same sympthoms ,actually there are lots of types of bipolarity. So your question is somewhat absurd.
All I know is I have put a bunch of question on here about bipolar because of a good friend of mine. I think I've lost him though. He's "down" and has been for a couple weeks. I mentioned meds/dr, etc. - he got pissed - from then on he's decided to be "alone" and cut everyone off, including me. Haven't talked to him in a while. I get scared for him. I got so mad at him because he does this every once in a while (hurts me - emotionally) but it's not his fault and when I'm upset, I forget that he's not being normal. It's SOOOOO confusing and frightening at the same time. From what I understand, without medication, it's a loss.
Potential suicide and/or putting everyone in harm's way of a manic or depressed person. Bipolar folks don't get "wo is me" sad, they get evil. It's not their fault, the answer's in the name: disorder.
Have relative with BP. She's on meds & takes vit B complex plus vit B 6 & she's doing great. BP is a chemical imbalance in the brain & with meds you'll do ok. See your doctor for the right help.
u can handle it, just take an over dose of viagra and lie down flat on ur tommy.
Never leave a bipolar patient untreated. Cos when they're in they're manic state, everything will be ruin cos of their own reckless behavior. Later when u feel like your normal self, you'll feel like you've humiliated yourself so much that it hurts to even think about it. Believe me. I know.
For awhile Yes but as it worsen no. It will become harder to control and well take over there life.
