Does anyone know how to get rid of depression?


Question:
I'm really depressed latley but I hate seeing therapists, I've had so many in my life and they all make me feel werid, uncomfterable and a little bit crazy. I feel like I don't really know them, so why should I tell them my probelms. However I REALLY want to stop being depressed anyone have any ideas?

maybe volunteer to help people less fortunate in some way...like old people..children. you will be doing a great good for them and how could that not help u fell a bit better

Try going to a social worker therapist. They are just as qualified as psychiatrists, but quite different in attitude and have access to a ton of community resources.

If a therapist makes you feel strange or uncomfortable, you are well within your rights to find a different one, but remember, they are trained professionals and can help you deal with your depression. Don't give up on finding a decent one!

May be that a group therapy could work for you.
It may feel strange at first, talking to a group of strangers. Start slow, you don't have to say everything out in the open right away, But once you start hearing other people with the same feelings and worries as you it makes you feel kinda connected. You may also get some of the best advice from people that you can relate to.
Try this...it works for me when I get down. Find some reason to go out into the world. Go to a dance or a party or a grocery store or just walk some random streets until you find a stranger you find interesting for any number of reasons, best if you find them attractive though.
3 second rule . . .Go
walk up look them straight in the eyes and smile. Come up with something to say it doesn't matter what (general statement, question, cheesy pick up line). Just get the conversation started and let it go from there, leave with a phone number or e-mail and head on home. Attraction, anticipation, and romantic feelings happen to be even more consuming than most depression so just let it take over your mind. Once your over the hump it'll be allot easier to meet new people and repeat the process. And dare I say that sex causes a release of chemicals in the brain that alleviates many of the imbalances attributed to depression.
