ur friend is quite unfortunate. the disease is fatal. the current medical therapy only prolongs life by 5 years or so. but life once the disease affects the cns fully is horrible. can eat cant take care of them selves etc.
unfortunately there is no cure
althought there is no cure yet hopefully she can live a satsfying life with her love ones by her side, giving her love and support and treating her like a normal person not like a sick one, sorry about your friend just be there for her.
I have seen this disease progress in an aquaintance of mine over several years now. He is pretty much living life in a state of dementia now. It really is a sad thing - almost like Alzheimers. Just continue to be a friend and it will get trying.
