Does anyone have any experience with taking Effexfor (Venlafaxine)? I've heard horror stories about coming

Question:
off it.

Answers:
I'm taking it now, and haven't come off it, but I know that you have to do it very, very slowly. The doctor should wean you town to a low dose a bit at a time (ex. if you are taking 150 mg, lessen it to 100, then 75 and then 50 etc). If you have ever missed a couple of doses than you know that it is hell when your body goes through the withdrawl. So DON'T just stop taking it - you will be in trouble!

If you are taking it for anxiety or sleep regulation, make sure you have plans in place for what to do if the situation comes back. Talk to your doctor about what you should do.

If you are taking it for depression, recognize that your feelings of helplessness may come back, but you need to work through this rather than just start taking it again. If you are taking it for this or anxiety, you should make sure your doctor or a counsellor can help you talk through these issues.

I wish you so much luck - I have been on Effexor for 5 years, and I really want to get off it, but I am really scared at the moment because I don't know what is behind that door. I hope everything goes really, really well.
I don't want to come off mine.
