bird flue am concerned about the chicken im eating!!?
Question:
I love my chicken, gosh who doesnt?
Answers:
Relax! There's absolutely no risk whatever of you catching avian flu by eating cooked poultry.
The people who are at risk are those who come into physical contact with infected live birds. The worst-hit areas are south-east Asia and parts of Africa; many people in these areas are extremely poor and (awful to us as it sounds) often live alongside the birds which they keep, and have no way of telling if the birds are infected or not.
I've never heard of the bird flu in New Zealand. Usually the domestic birds for commercial use are kept inside. The bird flu is spread by wild birds. You're probably very safe.
