Any tips on anxiety?

Sweetie, there's nothing wrong with taking one pill in the morning for a panic attack free day.........I used to feel the same way as you but they got so bad as I got older that I thought I was gonna die and decided that 1 pill a day was worth happiness and being calm enough to make it through the day.........Think about it.........How much BETTER would life be if you didn't have anxiety?

Try going for a walk, listen to music and difinately try and get alot of sunlight in the house. The best thing I have found to distract my mind is to start scrubbing the bathtub, this may sound crazy but it really works.
See if you can find someone who can teach you relaxation techniques, visualization, or meditation. That can be very helpful and is a recognized effective treatment.
don't take pills for it, try smoking joints or pipes if it's too hard to calm down anyother way! natural, effective, fast anxiety relief!
breathing works for me.. I cant take the meds for my panic attacks, too many side affects.... But, slow, steady, deep breathing.... try to relax and not think about the situation your in... My issue is going over bridges.. I make sure to not look side to side and that if I am driving, there isnt a semi truck beside me, and I make sure I breath... If you hold your breath, they will take longer to go away or ease up..Good luck
You have panic disorder. I've found the best thing to do is take a walk with someone and keep a conversation going til' it stops.
The first girl who answered you do not listen to her. She is a freakin crazy for telling you that. she is a *****!
well anyways I get those too somtimes and I tell my mom. I just try to control it. best luck.
I have heard that wearing a rubber band around your wrist and snapping it when you feel an attack coming on can help. Usually when I feel that way I just try to talk myself down. In my head, I think of all the reasons I feel the way I do and remember that it's not as bad as I'm making it. I hope you find your best method.
Hi- I hope you have told your parents of your attacks.. Try keeping a journal on them and what you are doing, what the weather is, what you have eaten ect.. when you start to have one.. also let an adult know when you are having one.. slowing down and breathing slower, quiet place can help.... I hope this helps you a little..
Peace out
FOR RELIEVING ANXIETY, YOU SHOULD TAKE DEEP BREATHING,DO YOGA EXERCISES REGULARLY.
Take a long walk, write in a journal and avoid the tv. You may want to go to therapy to get this all off your chest.
Meditation!--try playing an instrument. That always works for me. I play the piano. It helps me forget everything (problems that is) and concentrate in my music. It's my own meditation! Or you could just try the old ommmmmmm-meditation! There are books which you can read how to do proper meditation.
You can try drinking some chamomile tea or even green tea. I get those at night sometimes and find that drinking a cup of tea helps a whole lot. Try some yoga during the day..it is known for relieving any types of anxiety and puts your mind at ease. Good Luck!
Did you tell your doctor? talk openly , maybe it is a side effect that wasn't discussed or discovered until now. I know when I feel really stressed out I will try and read a book , (out loud) really! Petting a cat or rabbit has been proven to help blood pressure that is sometimes caoused by stress. Also taking deep breaths and letting out slowly and counting can help. Or giving yourself one big hug, you will be okay, GOOD LUCK!!
I have IBS, and some circumstances will drive up my levels of anxiety. I will usually hold my breath which forces the heart to slow down because the reduced O2 and sort of count til I count hold it much longer and try again. I stop after I feel the calm come back. I also in some situations, try to go to sleep but without going so far as to fall asleep.
Hope this helps.
It has a lot to do with breathing. If you're in a group of people, just concentrate on breathing in slowly through your nose to the count of 5 and then push the breath out through your lips slowly to the count of 5. After a while, you can start to increase your count all the way up to 10. When you are focused on breathing and nothing else going on outside yourself, it will help you concentrate and relax. Also, breathe from your diaphram, which is located around your upper stomach. If you breathe and your chest rises and falls, you're not doing it right. That makes your breath much more shallow and your heart beat faster.
When you're alone, practice these techniques and try meditation where you close your eyes and think positive thoughts. You may also want to see a counselor to talk about what issues trigger your panic attacks and how to combat them. Good luck, hun.
unfortunatley honey, if youve had a problem with it for that long, you may not just grow out of it. it may be something you deal with for life. i know. me too. dont be so afraid to take a med. i wondered what the hell i waited so long for. exercise is great.
so is meditation. so is improving your self confidence.
do something that makes you afraid, scares you. that empowers you. meds are there to help you. doesnt mean you have to be on them for life. remember its just a feeling. it does not have the power to kill you. and remember to laugh.
i get them when i do i breath deeply and repeat im cool im calm im collected think of something that relaxes you it calms me i practice in the mirror at home and you start to believe it and it helps
Go to a psychiatrist. If your not old enough to take anxiety medication, ask about Lexapro and other anti-depressants. I also have panic disorder and anxiety disorder. I'm too young for anxiety meds, so I take Lexapro for depression and anxiety both. It's for both. So ask your psychiatrist about it and see what she/he says. It's helped me out a lot. Therapy also helps me reduce my panic attacks and teaches me ways to deal with anxiety.
At your age, it is best to discuss this with your parents or guardian to work out a plan. I have anxiety disorder so I know where you are coming from. I do talk therapy and yoga (a gentle yoga program goes a long way to calm the nerves). I won't take meds because of a family history of bad reactions to them.
There is a natural product that helps me some. It's called Bach's Rescue Remedy and you can find it in health food stores. It's made of flower essences believed to calm the nerves. It doesn't make the anxiety go away completely, but it takes the edge off and makes a full blown panic attack manageable. Please make sure your parents know before you try anything like that. You can have an allergic reaction or some other reaction to it - so an adult who can help you needs to know ahead of time.
Try to determine your triggers - the things that set you into a panic - and coach yourself on how to deal with them when you have to face them. If you are prepared, it is easier to deal with. A counselor who specializes in therapy can help you find ways to calm yourself when you have an attack. Learn your best methods and use them.
I wish you the best, and please make sure your parents are aware of the problem so they can help and support you.
cool. im 12 too...&& i have anxiety ((at least thats wut my doctor says)) and i take lexapro. i was scared to take it at first because i didnt want to "change" but it allows me to be myself around others. ask you doctor about it
You simply need to learn to breath. Learn to slowly take the air into your lungs, and slowly let it out. Learn to focus on nothing but the breathing. Right now you are like a person trapped in an air-tight container, and your oxyegen is running out. What happens is you start to panic and you lose focus and clarity because you are depriving yourself of oxyegen. When the whole time all you had to do was slow down your breathing and turn the handle on the door and walk out of the air-tight container. You need to focus only on your lungs, focus on filling them up with fresh air, focus on releasing all of byproducts as you breath out. Focus only on the breathing to the point where you can do it with out thinking about it. Once you are able to breath like that then you will find that your panic attacks have disappeared.
12 is a really young age to already be going through such a strong feeling. I am 26 and I am now suffering badly from panic attacks. But they all began when I was very young, about 8 years old. I didn't get help until now. I'm not going to tell you to see a doctor and get on meds but there is one book out there that guides you through your anxiety. It will explain what it is, why it is, causes, relaxation methods, ect. ect.
It's only $20 at Barnes & Noble.
I also suggest talking to an adult, like a therapist about these feelings. You need to take action now orotherwise you will continuely suffer.
Good luck in your quest for peace. :)
Good for you to NOT want meds they will mess you UP...
BUT maybe your allergy medication MIGHT make you feel shaky and might make you feel like anxiety. Look at your medication information papers or ask a pharmacist or your doctor.
I know I have been diagnosed with anxiety and tried meds...
OK
ON to you...
this sounds NUTS but Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban really helped ME...
HOW?
First if you have not seen it try to just see it...
They have a part where Profes. Lupin is instructing the students to ward off Boggarts...
You know what a Boggart is?
A shape shifter that feeds off our FEARS...
OK so look at this...
Say you are afraid of speaking in front of class...
THAT IS A FEAR...
get a picture of something really funny in your head...and lets say...SEEING the whole class as funny shaped balloons and
think
"RIDDIKULUS!"
IT will help...I have tried it and it helps me...and I am an adult...
Sometimes I actually say..."RIDDIKULUS!"
either in a whisper or one time I actually YELLED IT!
LOL!
oops silly me! Did I say that out loud again? heehee!
Well give it a go!
Do not hate the book or movie it really is more helpful than some people say.
I am just saying this because I have read some mean things in here against H.P.
BUT the technique works...J.K Rowling just brought it to light in the book and movie, but people do this type of thing all the time!
I also carry some small object to hold or a book to read to help take my mind off my surroundings.
I have come to know that I FEEL other people's feelings when I am in a crowed it is just too many at once and I have not learned how to TURN IT OFF or control MY feelings.
Find out what causes your anxiety and try to control it before you enter the situation...
Example: You are going to meet with a teacher the next day to talk over your grades...
First you have spoken with him or her before, she/he cannot hurt you.
OK
and also think about your grades have you passed most of your tests?
Done your homework and turned in things on time?
Do you ask questions and talk to other kids in proper time I mean?
Teachers like us to share ideas not what we watched on the TV last night or who we have a crush on...
THEY love us to ask questions! AND ANSWER them.
OK maybe not like Hermione, but yes ask questions and answer them too !
WELL if you say YES then most likely your teacher will have a good report for you. So nothing to worry over...next problem...
Your going to FINALLY speak to that CUTE boy in class...but your tummy feels tight!
YIKES!
YOUR throat goes dry and barely a squeak comes out!
OK THINK it over before hand...MOST ALL guys have worse anxiety about talking to girls as we do talking to them, WHAT have you noticed about HIM that you can talk about?
FIND something and just go up and say...
"HI, a great game you played yesterday!"
He will just about MELT in is socks...
YOU Noticed HIM...and that he played a great game...!
THEN say, but I am really not too sure what the game is all about, could you explain it?
You have broken the ice and picked a subject he likes and you validate him as a good player, he might have thought he sucked but here you give him encouragement!
BE sincere! Honest and make people feel good...
Do not talk ONLY about you...wait until the time is right!
At your age life is filled with things that give you anxiety!
IT is normal and you should not be on meds because of it.
Your body is going through changes and all kinds of things are going on...BIG anxiety time.
Types of Teen Anxiety Disorders
The most common types of anxiety disorders in teens are generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Generalized anxiety disorder is characterized by long-standing (at least six months) incessant and exaggerated worry about everyday life. There are often physical symptoms such as headaches, muscle tension, stomach distress and fatigue.
Panic disorder is when a person suffers frequent episodes of intense fear for no apparent reason. These episodes may be accompanied by chest pain, heart pounding, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Sometimes there is a fear of dying.
Obsessive compulsive disorder is when there are repeated, uncontrollable thoughts or behaviors, such as hand-washing or counting of objects.
It is quite common for other mental health problems such as depression, substance abuse, or an eating disorder to be present at the same time as an anxiety disorder.
What to Do
How can you tell if your teen has an anxiety disorder? First, remember that all teens have worries--both big and small. And while the type of worry doesn't differ between those teens with and without an anxiety disorder--the intensity and number of worries does. Is she worried enough about the volleyball game that she has trouble eating dinner, or so worried about her performance in this and many other events that she avoids participation? If it is the latter, there may be a problem.
Well if you want to stay away from pills, you might want to try eastern medicine. Example will be... massage, meditation and yoga might help. I get those once in a while but mine is very different than yours, i am just scared when i am alone. any how try those you might find them useful.
