Is it possible to have a healthy, solid relationship with someone who has depression?

Question:
He is dealing with it, seeing a therapist, taking meds, etc. and seems healthier than most people I meet but how could it affect things long-term?

Answers:
Yes it is very possible. I went through clinical depression and my boyfriend stayed by my side at all times. And he has helped me be the person I am today. We love each other more than ever and I think it was sort of a challange to our relationship but it only made us stronger. I am sure there were times he just wanted to leave but he didn't and we worked through it together. If you really love someone, no matter whats wrong with them it can work. You just need to make sure you are there for him emotionally as well and make sure he knows that and you guys will do just fine. good luck to you

If their getting therapy, then yes, I think it's possible

Depression isn't the worst problem a person could have. don't go see a therapist and don't take meds. you yourself will get sucked into depression as well and you don't want that. if that be the case, then you can forget it. find someone else.

I'm sure it is possible. Far more people have depression that we could imagine. If those in depression deal with it, trying to cure their selves..they're on the right way to recover. I know it from my own experience because I've passed through such states. And i think i'm absolutely ok right now. I know it may come back anytime (and it does) but i know how to defend it. and i'm feel much stronger right now

I AM 43 AND HAVE RE-OCCURRING MAJOR DEPRESSION AND I HAVE BEEN STABLE NOW SINCE 1997. THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS ABSOLUTELY YES. ONCE ONE WHO HAS/HAD DEPRESSION GOES THRU THERAPY AND TAKES THE MEDICATION NEEDED TO MAINTAIN STABILITY. THEY CAN HAVE AND MAINTAIN HEALTHY, SOLID AND LOVING RELATIONSHIPS. NO ONE HAS THE ABILITY TO SEE IN THE FUTURE YOU COULD JUST AS EASILY HAVE MAJOR RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS WITH SOME ONE WHO IS CONSIDERED NORMAL. GIVE THE GUY A BREAK YOU BOTH COULD LEAN A LOT FROM EACH OTHER. GOOD LUCK. as long as they are being treated for it and they except the fact that they are clinically depressed than yes. I'm clinically depressed and my hubby and i have a wonderful relationship and have since we first met.
