Do you think people really understand what happens to a person that has to kill in a war?

Question:
My son was in the Army and spent time in Iraq. Since he's been home he gets angry easy, has nightmares, can't watch or talk about the war, has become somewhat racists and has a hard time holding down a job for very long.

Answers:
No one who hasn't been through it will ever know what it is like. Take your son to the nearest VA hospital to see a psychiatrist. It sounds like he has PTSD and VA hospitals are very good at treating it since that is what 90 percent of their patients have. Most of the employees are veterans or spouses of veterans and the providers all have lots of experience treating PTSD.

Here is the website to help you find a hospital near you. Treatment for service connected disabilities is usually free and he may be eligible for disability benefits including re-adjustment counseling to help him get back to work.
