Does anyone know if counselling really workks for trauma?

Question:

Answers:
Depend on the type of trauma and the type of counselling.

I would always recommend someone with trauma go and see a Hypnotherapist with NLP certification, as it allows you to deal with the issue quickly, easily and without the pain of constantly having to go over old ground.

I know of dozens of people who have dealt with severe trauma with Hypnotherapy and NLP successfully after they found that traditional counselling didn;t help them. Often in 2-3 sessons alone.

Tread carefully, always check the and verify the therapists qualifications before you do, but always know that you have it in you to deal with this issue.

Good luck

Works for some not for others
yes sometimes people don't know how to handle things and the counselor will help you face the thing your avoiding
In my experience counsellors generally "coach" you through the answers yourself by asking you open questions so eventually you come up with the answer to your problems. When you're stressed out and traumatised it is hard to get your brain to think straight to do this yourself.
counselling doesn't work . It is a lot of nonsense . Best way to get over anything be it trauma or any other illness is to face it yourself and be strong enough to overcome the cause of whatever is it that is troubling you. Counselling is a modern phenomena and people in the early part of 19 and 20th century got along perfectly well without it.
i have seen it help some people, not others.

I wonder if there may be a proper combination - like a particular type of counseling/therapy for a particular type of trauma. It also depends a LOT on whether the patient has found a counselor/therapist the patient can trust.
yes but only if your ready for it and that can take years for some people if you think your ready for it then it definitely will help just make sure you have a good counsellor you trust not all of them are good at their jobs. and to rub1con that's rubbish theres only so much self counselling you can do sometimes you need other people to educate you on certain thinking and behaviours you cant necessarily explain your self. and do you really know what they did to people with mental health problems in the 19 century
I see a psychologist and it has helped with my PTSD, I got burned badly when I was a child and wouldn't let anyone in the kitchen when I was cooking or let my children cook.
I can now let them cook some things.
I still find it stressful but the psychology has helped me to see that the children cooking isn't dangerous as long as they have been explained properly how not to take risks.
My eldest is 23 he left home at 18 and never got to cook in my house, I have been letting my 18 year old cook for a couple of years now and my daughter who is 12 is allowed to grill and microwave things.
Gezz I need a therapist just looking at all the people that cannot spell..
it can help if you gt the right support, you need to be strong and combine it with other things which if you get a good councilor they will explain,it cant hurt anyway.x
it does but it can be very upsetting I've been there but had to stop
I'm not sure, but it made me think, Cheers
I very much doubt it. What qualifies so called counsellors to try and deal with these things . Have they suffered trauma? I have read where they can make it worse.
sure it does for some and not for others think just talking to anyone helps find a good listener good luck
