how can I get inspiration to write music?

Question: I need some ideas. Sometimes I'm on a role and I can really come up with good stuff, and sometimes I just go through a dry spell. And no, I don't do drugs.

Diners are the center of the human condition. Just sit around in one and listen to the people (especially 24 hour joints at 2 in the morning). A thousand songs worth of material will be spewing out. Observe the people. How alone they look in their eyes while laughing with friends. The critical questions they ask about nothing important. It’s all there.
