Do people slip back into depression after they are taken off an anti-depressant?

Question:

Answers:
It depends. If someone is slowly weened off the anti-depressants and is feeling alright, then they should be fine. If they start feeling depressed again, however, they should probably talk to their doctor about staying on them. If someone completely stops taking them, their depression will go down even further than how it was before and may result in suicide. Ok if you start off being depressed about a 5 on a scale of one to ten, then start taking anti-depressants and then your depression is a 1 out of ten, everything seems great. But if you suddenly stop taking them, You're brain hasnt had enough time to start making more of the hormones that create that feeling of happiness because its been so used to using artifical ones and you'll go to a 9 or 10 on a depression scale. If you dont want to be on them anymore, talk to your dr about getting a smaller dosage untill you completely stop and see how you feel. You can try releasing endorphines in a more natural way than with medication by excercising or doing other activities that would release more of those hormones. However, if this doesn't work for you, then keep taking them. Yea its a pain in the butt, but would you rather take them or feel like **** all the time? See what your other options are...
yes
