Some people do it to remember. However, it could be a way of seperating and becoming an individual person. Most people that I know that have tattoo's got them while they were still searching for themselves, and they serve as a chronicle of that time period. I don't know if being bored it's a psychological reason, but I think that's not a mental trouble if you're not obsessed with that, the most of the cases people try to "print" something that represent themselves or their beliefs.
They want to get the "public atention", they want to be somebody, they want the people pay atention to them. It is a way to say: "hey, im here, watch me, dont you know that im here?" They have tunnel vision, down to earth. This people usually is problematic and they feel less than the others. They focus everything in things of the earth. In almost all of them, the spiritualism dont exist.
