im 13 and im afraid of the dark.?


Question:
i cant sleep with out a light and a sound. it buggs me but i just cant sleep without them. when i fall asleep whit my lights and radio on before my parents go to bed they'll come in and turn them off so i'll wake up at around 1 am to a pitch black quite room and i wont be able to go back to sleep even with the lights and radio onn. what do i do?

i am 16 and i am still afaird of the dark... you could proboaly get a night light or a lamp so you could keep on at night. and if your parents turn it off get you butt out of bed and turn it back on. i am still afaird of the dark is b/c i watch too many horror movies. i am addicted to them and it gives me nightmares so at night i keep my night light on.

tell your parents to not turn the night light off n to respect that u are much more comfortable w the night light on... i'm 24 n still sleep with my lamp on... nothing wrong with that.
tell your parents to get you a night light
put a night light in your room and get a walkman to listen to your music then maybe your parents wont bother you,,,,talk to them too and explain your fears you may be 13 but ppl a lot older experience this same problem too
Talk to your parents and get a nightlight. I'm 39 and I sleep with 3 100 watt bulbs shining in my face lol
My grand mother is still afraid of the dark.
it is mothing to be worried about. it is a simple metter of your mind. you feel that if the lamp is on and if the radion too you will be safe. light and musick make people feel sver. why?? because have you ever seen a movie who actualy have his terror on day light. they always have their lights off. and no music. so it is propablu a small influence from the media...or a part of it. you are just normal!

Well, you could get a night light. I don't mean one of those really bright childish looking lights, but one of those indiglo types. The electro-luminescent blue-green light may be just bright enough to make the room visible at night. On the plus side, you can claim that it's to help you not trip over anything if you have to go to the bathroom at night instead of being afraid of the dark.

I find it hard to sleep without some sort of white noise, like a fan. You could get one of those really small fans that circulates air and makes a faint noise to help you sleep. You might also find a small clock or device that makes white noise sounds, or the sounds of the ocean, or a brook, or others. Personally, I think those sound machines are a little too loud and high pitched but it might work for you. Oh, and definitely don't use a ticking clock.

If it's more of a fear of what's in the dark instead of just feeling isolated and lost because it's dark and quiet, then maybe you should get a big ol'e teddy bear to protect you. Sometimes even I (big guy) wake up in the dark confused. Just growl at the dark and let it know who's boss. Or hum one long low note -- it repels spookies just like high pitched buzzing repels other pests. If that doesn't help, then ask the spookies to go away and come back tomorrow, cause you're just too tired tonight. Then each night, you can just keep putting them off to the next day. BTW, if you have a sleep-over then you can bring the spookies out on your side and scare your friends. They'll love you for it. :-)

Sweetheart, I'll be 23 on the 18th and Im still affraid of the dark! I always have to sleep with my TV on unless my boyfriends with me. Some people are just like that
yeah it's pretty normal to be afraid of the dark...just put a nightlight on and some kind of noise source....it's up to you....good luck! btw the boogeyman is under your bed...lol
