How do I easily transition from one therapist or psychiatrist to another?, most are really worthless.?

Question:
I've seen social workers and psychiatrists for years. As Paula Poundstone said, "you really can't care somebody to care." She's right. These people care about getting you out in an hour and protecting their reputation. That's it. I rely on two good friends and my girlfriend but I can't spill my guts about everything. These "professionals" won't return phone calls and often get unbelievably petty. And they get payed regularly. And a lot. And I'm more mature than both of them combined.

Answers:
I am going to say it straight T.M. You are now a therapist and shouldn't be bothering the profession. Pick up your bed and walk.

Other Answers:
Try a good psychologist, many of them that I have met through university are very devoted to their clients. It can be tough to find the right clinician but once you find one that you can form a good therapeutic alliance with, but once you do, statistics have found their effectiveness to be very high.

Your doctor or local hospital has a good referral line. i hear what your saying about spilling your guts. I think its healthy to get a neutral opinion on any subject. There are some good ones out there and some duds just like finding a perfect girlfriend. Just be careful and ask alot of questions. I've even interviwed potential ones. I pay them so they basially work for me, I need to know they have my best interest at heart.
