getting diagnosed.?

Question:
I beleive based on reasearch and self study that I am slightly bipolar. the anti depressant given to me makes me feel like I am a shadow of myslef and het I can play this offf when around other people. for a bit. I don't want to play it off. Yet doctor after doctor keeps wnating to give me something to "calm" my anxieties. And I think I may get better treatment if I am diagnosed and doctor's can deal with that. I have been in various therapy sessions and seen docs from practioners to psyhchiatrists.I have spent most of my life self sabbotageing, getting throu rough times with alcohol (which has become too friendly with me) and I want to change my life. I really think it is more that just depression.any thoughts or ideas.or laughs..

Answers:
Nothing here to laugh at, child. You need direction, and I don't cotton to medicating, but you do need help. If you do suffer from anxieties, then steer away from alcohol.that is the worst possible treatment.

Have you thought of consulting a holistic healer? Exercise, a good hobby, calming teas, and meditation are excellent starts.

I pray for your heart, dear one.

Many people with mental illness learn to self-medicate with alcohol, and thus creating another problem. Have you told a therapist that you believe you are bi-polar? And yes, anti-depressants can make people feel emotionless, and not like themselves, maybe a lower dosage? Or try a different med? There are several out there. Keep trying until you find a doctor/med that fits
Ok heres a laugh.. circle your right foot in a clockwise motion, round and round.. then with your right hand draw the number six in the air ( at the same time). Your foot will stop and go the otherway. you cannot control that..(without practice).

There is an example of how powerful the mind really is.. but it cannot beat you. You are the driver.
You are not a professional. Self diagnosis can be dangerous and misleading. There are so many antidepressants out there. An appropriate one can be found for you. Shop around for a more compatible counselor or psychologist. We all have a little bit of all the mental disorders. That doesn't mean we have the disease. There are a lot of variables to consider. Medicine is not always a precise science or art. Find the help you need and discuss your options if a particular medication is not working out. Sometimes a medication has to be taken for a while before it can be dismissed. Find the practitioner that you have good report with and work with that person. Your alcohol consumption is not helping. Why hasn't your expertise intervened with that? Don't give up. Real help is out there. Stop rejecting professionals that don't agree with your unfounded diagnosis. I want you to get better also. Be honest . That is the first step.
