Loved ones of the clinically depressed, I need your advice?

Question:
My boyfriend is clinically depressed, and we are planning on getting married. We love each other very much and I want to be there to help him until the day I die. But I do have some questions.

What quality of life are you able to have with them? Does it effect your family? Is it harmful for young children to be around depressed parents?

If the depressed person tries hard enough can they get better? Any words of advice?

Answers:

that is a hard one to answer realistically, life can be OK, but do try to get him some professional help
from experience if he is depressed and is on medication and going to therapy, he will be okay, you can have a very good quality of life. if he decides he no longer needs the medication and he is "cured" you are gonna have problems. since he is depressed, most likely your kids are going to be depressed as well. its a lifelong commitment, good luck!
If you are feeling skittish right now maybe you would be better off leaving him. Your in for a helluva ride and if you cannot handle it, he is better off without you.

Depression afects everyone around them othervise you wouldet be asking'No, trying real hard doesnt work by it self,he will probaly always deal with it, most likey if other family members have had this its likely to be jenetic as well, depression isnt something you chose,
depression can be treated with medication and counseling, and we can live happy lives. but it can always come back

i would not get near an unmedicated depressant, or have children with one.
