Any tips for people with mood-swings?

Well the term mood swing can be used to describe quite a bit. I mean it depends on the friend's sex, age and severity of their moods. I would not jump to say that they are bi-polar (manic depressive). You need to provide more details in your question.
If they are of the age from 12-21 it can simply be growing pains and adjusting to life and trying to find who they are. Also males and females at this time go through hormonal changes that can affect their moods.
If they are females, it could be their time of the month or is going to be. A woman's hormones can affect her mood by making her sad, weepy, angry or even mad at this time. Some women are not affected at all.
Lastly, it could be some complicated psychological issue that they have. It is hard to say with the vague term mood swings though and I would no presume to say what the problem is. I would suggest that if it is not simply the everyday type mood swings, then tell your friend to see a qualified doctor to discuss the issue.
