Any experiences with family interventions for mental health ?

Question:
Good? Bad?
reactions?

Answers:
I had my brother committed to a psychiatric institution after he stopped taking his anti-psychotic medication. My family couldn't cope with dealing with this. My brother did not speak to me for two and a half years and nor did my mother. My other brother cut me off for a year. It was a very lonely time, but I'm happy to say we are all on speaking terms again and my brother seems quite stable. It was a very hard thing to do, but I can see that it was worth doing for my brother's wellbeing.

I am not clear about your question about family interventions. Is it about the treatment ?
Mental health patients can use help from family and close friends if they care to give mental support.
For treatment family can look for second expert opinions.
Yeah I tried it with my mom.....It went horribly wrong (but she is bi-polar) she accused me of trying to get the family money .......It wasn't until she went ballistic in public and got arrested that she realized she needed help....and that's when we found out she was schizophrenic also

Good luck
