Do people develope a phobia when they are born or develope one later on in life?

Question:
Just wondering.

Answers:
There are three ways phobias form:
Vicarious or Observational. Example, seeing someone afraid of or getting hurt by a situation. Like seeing a parent afraid of a dog.
Traumatic Conditioning for example fear of closed- in spaces that came from being trapped in a closet at a young age or fear of heights because of a fall, fear of flying after experiencing a panic attack during an airline flight. These examples don't explain all origins of phobias.
Informational Transmission is the third kind and is caused by being warned or told to be extremely careful about a specific object or situation. For example, hearing news about a plane crash or your parents telling you to be extremely cautious during a thunder storm.
Some individuals are more vulnerable to develop fears and phobias. Some people feel the effects of negative experiences more strongly. Some people can experience being trapped in an closed-in space and not become phobic.

My phobias developed in my mid to late 20's, namely flying. I think phobias develop from a catalyst when you were younger. Almost everything that scares me to death, I can trace back to an incident when I was a child. Fear of large dogs? Got bitten by one. Fear of spiders? Found one in my ear when I was a child. Fear of mice? Used to have a babysitter that made us nap on the floor and I used to stay awake to keep the mice off my baby brother. Fear of snakes? My grandfather thought he was being funny when he had a harmless garter snake in his pocket and told me to reach into his pocket because he had candy for me.imagine my horror when I pulled out a snake!

after contact with negative out come such as getting picked on in school may cause you to social phobia.." agoraphobia"

you can develop a phobia based on a tramatic event that's happened to you. I have a panic attack anytime my head is completely submerged underwater. but I don't know where that came from, maybe I drown in a past life

Phobias are horrible things - my brother has been agorphobic for a long time, but not since birth; It has taken us a lot of counseling to learn that no one has just one phobia; they have many. Phobias are absolutely debilitating; We were told it a conditioning from an incident or incidents Both You can develop them as baby or an adult.

I could be wrong on this but i believe that you develop them as you go in life because when we are born we are innocent and have no knowledge of good and bad/scary or not. I think it has to do with the things we have to deal with as life progresses.
