Well, I can think of instances where this is not true. For instance, large amounts of calcium are good for women (Geese), but can be harmful for men (Ganders).

Not always. Every village in England used to have (and most still have) a 'Common'. A common is an area of land on which the ordinary people could graze their sheep etc. However, many rich landowners tried to take the common from the common people. An old rhyme gives the details:

'They hangs the man, and whips the woman,
Who steals the goose from off the Common,
But lets the man go running loose,
Who steals the Common from off the goose'.

So you see, Isitjustme, it was not always 'Sauce for the Goose, is sauce for the Gander'......................
