How can I get in control of myself?

Question:
Sometimes I feel so excited, that I talk and laugh with everyone, then wonder why I don't feel in control. Then other times I feel all quiet and lazy. Where is the balance, how can I control myself?

Answers:
Meditate. It will bring the highs down and the lows up. Also learn to trust yourself. You are acceptable and appropirate, I'm sure. so enjoy the'natural high'. Also look at caffine, food and sleep.

Other Answers:
i know what you mean

Rope, duct tape, and some valium. Choose to control yourself. If you obviously know that this is happening, choose to control it.

it probably depends on the amount of sleep you are getting that contributes to your moods..are you lazy all day? or maybe you aren't eating right.

write down what is making you laugh and what you talk about, then write down what you are and were doing when you are all quiet and lazy..what your surroundings are,,ect.
look in the mirror and stick your tongue out at yourself..then smile..keep yourself in check..
at least, that's what I do..good luck. Some mood swing is normal.

But if you feel there is a problem, you could try assorted meditation exercises. Or, start walking or running. That seems to help balance me out.

Don't expect instant results: State of mind is as much a habit as anything else, and it takes a bit of training to instill.

If you fear you might have a problem with depression or bi-polar disorder, talk with a professional. At worst, a doctor can reccomend medication. Some people have to get drunk or stoned to be able to do that very thing. See how much money and trouble you are saving?

Sometimes there is a disassociative feature of our minds that we need to work on. A person 'runs off' with the freedom to talk or dance or whatever, because the person inside has sort of let the dog off her leash in your case. Other times the dog isn't running because, in your case, she knows she's on a rope and can't properly go or do what she would really like anyway.

Practice deliberation. Practice thinking out what you are going to do and do precisely that and stop. Walk to the newspaper vending machine at some shopping center and look just at the machine (yes, you can respond when others say hi), but don't look at the stores, don't look at the people, don't look at the pavement or the weather or whatever else is going on in the world. Buy your paper and walk back. You just practiced something deliberate. Then do the same thing using the vending machine as a benchmark place, but notice everything and everybody, except the machine. Try not to look at the machine. Try to remember everything about everything except the machine. When you've walked some distance and have to stop to see where the machine is because you don't know and think you've missed it. Then you've just done something equally deliberate. Notice, after some other similar experiments, what it feels like to do deliberate things. Now live your life with that feeling. It sounds like you may be bipolar. Please be evaluated by a mental health professional.
