I'm taking Zoloft now and I feel great. I use to be on Paxil years ago and I thought that one was great also. I wanted to go back on it when I started to see a new Dr. but she told me Paxil causes weight gain. I have social anxiety and my old Dr. put me on Wellbutrin which didn't do too much. So I think you'd be better of with Zoloft.

try not to start anything.

I was diagnosed manic depressed, borderline schizo, and bi-polar, and I don't take any medication anymore because it made me feel worse! I totally changed my diet, and started exercising, IT WORKS!! Be very careful with all the chemicals you put into your body, some have long-term effects. Good luck.
Paxil has worked better for me. I'm on Paxil CR now, and I LOVE it.
Zoloft was working okay, but it was breaking me out in a rash--I had drug reaction spots the size of a Moon Pie (can you tell I'm from the South?) all over my body. Also really bad diarrhea, but the rash was AWFUL.

At this time Zoloft is supposed to be the most effective with the fewest side effects. I was on Paxil years back and it was inaffective. Zoloft works great now.
I think that Paxil is more generally used for those whose depression is accompanied by some anxiety -- and Paxil by the way, is sometimes difficult to titrate down -- make sure if your DR. takes you off it, that he takes you down on your dosage a bit at a time.
Zoloft is a decent antidepressant -- have you tried any others? Also, are you using a regular DR. or a psychiatrist. My advice would be to seek a more experienced psychiatrist if you have any doubts.
Neither, I know youve heard this before, your simply quelling symptoms of anx. or depression. Has your doctor ever told you to 1) hydrate yourself properly?2)Get on a excercise regimine? 3) start a healthy diet, including a high quality vitamin supp/with72 trace minerals?..Hell no he hasnt! You have everything you need to cure this problem on your own!! I cured myself of paxil the same way! All drugs will poison your body to some extent. Do some research!
Zoloft..I take it and it helps me.
Been taking Zoloft for 6 years and it works really well for me. Inbetween the doc switched me to Nexito but that made me feel awful, went back to Zoloft.
I have taken both. Zoloft was not strong enough for me personally, so I take Paxil. However, Paxil has STRONG side effects when you try to ween yourself off of it. I do not recall having such horrid side effects when I stopped taking Zoloft.

Paxil is all-together a mild anti-depressent. So there should not be any withdrawal syndromes if you discontinue. I highly recommend Zoloft. You have to take high dosages, however, it is quite mild compared to many anti-depressents. Zoloft tearts depression much better than Paxil, however once discontinued, you'll sink back into depression. Once you take it, depression is reduced.
