Question:
i have a friend who her husband has passed away 1 1/2 years ago. it's now getting to her, crying and drinking mostly everyday she's dealing with guilt. i need to know where do i start with her? How do i approch her about it and not affect our relationship? Well it may affect it but she need help! Please help me with her.

Answers:
Just be there for her, don't turn your back on her,try to talk to her about how she feels without pressuring her to do so,then give her some other alternatives on dealing with her feelings like support groups or things that she likes to do or used to like to do,and go with her so she doesn't feel alone in this, that's the worse that you can do,left her alone, because i bet that's how she feels....alone,talk to a professional about this.
I would recommend with trying to find a thearpist for her (make sure her insurance covers the particular doctor) When she needs to talk, be there for her, but when she doesnt want to talk, don't push it. Maybe try to get her out of the house, as being home may remind her even more of her husband. Try going to the movies, have a girls night out, dinner and movie. make you she knows that its okay to cry, but the drinking sounds like its leading down a bad road if its everyday. Her doctor may give her a perscription for depression. Sometimes severe depression is caused by thyroid problems, but it sounds like its mostly from the loss of her husband.
Don't push the issue of talking too much, as it could bring about her not wanting to speak. Don't overwhelm her, just BE there for her. Death is an extremely hard aspect to deal with. I really hope this helped, even if it was just a little :)

You start w/ help listen to her rage w/ her fight w/ her but drag her to see someone if worse comes to worse threaten her tell her you do not want to see her go down this road and her hubby wouldn't want it either losing someone you love sucks big time but she is still living and needs to appreciate that
