DO I have OCD?

Question:
I used to think I was just overreacting to some goofy things I do, but now I'm not so sure.

The worst thing is when I pray, I can't finish until I say Amen, exactly right, while swallowing in a certain way.it's weird, and the swallowing thing, doesn't just happen when I pray either, I seem to have this problem a lot when customers are coming into work (I work at a fast food restaurant) and I have to great them, the moment they walk in the door, I feel this need to swallow, until I feel I've done it the exact right way.

Some other things I have a problem with, everytime a shady customer comes in, I'm CONVINCED we are about to be robbed, and then some scenario works out in my mind involving someone being shot or dying, and then I can't concentrate on the customer's order, and I have to ask them to repeat it.

I also have a nervous tic, which is effected most by flashing lights and loud noises, but I think that's just the tic.

You may want to see a psychologist or psychiatrist. Just try to relax. Try to focus your attention on what you are suppose to do. Its going to be very difficult and frustrating.
If you swallow every time you greet a customer, and let say you have 20 customers, try not to swallow when you greet 3 of them. then the next day, try not to swallow when you greet 5 of them and so on.What's the worst thing that could happen anyway if you dont swallow in a certain way? take the risk!
You know that your about to start obsessing about something, right? So before it even starts, don't entertain the idea. Like the idea that youre going to be robbed, someone will die or something like that. If you've already started obsessing, i dont find it helpful to convince yourself not to worry because you're mind will still be focused on the idea. And besides, if you do have OCD i believe that you won't be convinced anyway because the thought will always come back again and again and again even if you know you shouldn't obsess about it. Let go of the feeling of anxiety you associate with the thought. Just let go, you cannot control everything anyway.
I hope you will overcome these things. Its going to take time but try not to let them interfere with your daily activities, work and your relationship with others. good luck!

Calm down! Don't fill your mind with junk!! Try to concentrate on the work that you are doing at that moment.

I've gone through the same problem like yours, sometime in my life. But I was able to recover from it. The key word is 'calm down'.
You may have a form of OCD (especially since you motioned the swallowing routine)

Check out the link below regarding the condition. Do some research on sites like WebMD.com then make a conclusion. At that point you may want to make an appointment with a Psychologist to help you make a true determination.
The swallowing thing definitely sounds like it could be OCD. The tick may just be a nervous tick. However, only a doc can really diagnose. The problem with shady customers sounds more like anxiety than OCD. I would discuss this with a mental health specialist. That way you get a proper diagnosis. Don't be embarrassed either. One of my compulsions used to be having to put my kids crayons away. If they were not put in the box by color and descending hues from dark to light .I could not function until I did it. See you aren't the only one and that is just one of my more bizarre compulsions.
