I'm sorry to say that the only real way to know if someone is interested in you is to ask them. Whether you are gay or straight, no one can read another persons mind or guess by their actions, speech or style of dress. So your only option is to ask them. If you are uncomfortable doing this you may need to wait until you've formed a closer relationship with the person before asking. You don't have to be confrontational about it. You can try mentioning places that you know gays go to and see if he is familiar. You can watch what catches his eye (when men and women walk by him). You can blatantly mention that you are gay and see what his response is (okay or I don't go that way). Or you can simply ask him if he's gay. I do that all the time after I've gotten to know people. They usually tell me yes.
Use your gaydar. Don't laugh, it works. I know you've heard it said that likes attract. I know my gaydar works very well.
