Panick Attacks!! help!!?

Question:
ok...for some reason last night i had a panick attack. this is how it started: i was about to go to sleep and my heart skipped a beat which didnt surprise me at all cause i have been sleeping late and waking up early and not eating right, when that happens my heart skips a beat. anyway i knew that's why it did that but my body couldnt compute, i started having palpitations, sweating and i was curled up into a ball...no clue why tho....is there any NATURAL remedies or something i can use to stop having panick attacks...last night i honestly coudnt sleep because of it and i have to go out on friday...please help!

Answers:
Well, palpitations are usually caused by extreme stress of some kind. I had them on the last part of a 3 day/ 300 mile bicycling stint.

I would say you need to find something to relax, like a prescription medication, or change your environment. You could also have have subtle heart problems, but I would normally pin it on the first thing. As I recall, a heart rate increase is caused by the sympathetic nervous system, so there should be something mentally that that is triggering it. Either you aren't getting enough blood somewhere, or again - your getting really anxious about something.

I have heard that something as simple as getting a dog can help.

Other Answers:
many anti-depressants help with panic attacks. also i used to have them alot when i used to drink and use. If you are clean then look at some medication if it is happening often, if you drink or use then clean up and they will stop.
i think you should go and see a doctor. It's hard to determine if the event you described was actually a panic attack, or some other bodily reaction because you haven't eaten properly and so on.

I get panic attacks myself. The first thing is you should see a doctor. But if you have one before that you can try to take deep breaths. And do it slowly. Also I've heard that if you put a rubberband on your wrist you can snap it when you start to feel panic. It is susposed to remind you that it's ok and not real. The slight pain you get from the snap is susposed to represent reality and show you that panic is not really there. But panic will take over unless you get help. I hope this helps because my panic attacks have really ruined my life and now at 39 I am getting help and I hope you do too.

Ive had panic attacks since i was 16, im now 30. Ive been on medication since i was 21 and four weeks ago finally came off them. I have now had a panic attack consistently for 3 weeks. I too would love to find a natural remedy!
I have heart PVCs and at night sometimes when I am trying to get to sleep -especially if I am really sleep deprived then I get them at night too (like right when I am falling asleep and then my heart gets racy) I would recommend seeing a doctor and letting him/her know that you have heart palps and you want it checked out. Other than that for a suggestion sleeping in a little extra if you can helped mine. I think the more I thought about having them the less I could sleep and the more I had, then they went away for a year and come back only when I am stressed out it seems. As hard as they are to not think about it seemed to help me a lot in getting rid of the ones that happened at nighttime. But go to a doc too!
